Global Citizen is a worldwide platform with 7 employees and 300 students from more than 25 countries. The platform was founded in 2008, but the idea behind Global Citizen dates back to 2000. Global Citizen focuses on more than 2.000 topics relating to globalisation and sustainability.
At a minimum, sustainable solutions require the proper combination of
knowledgeable and skilled people coming together at the
right time. Paradoxically, while the internet is a fantastic
tool for this purpose, it often leaves us in a problematic
state where a disorganised flood of information and skilled
individuals complicates the quest for solutions.
We see this problem as an innovation deadlock caused by
network confusion and
information overload. Global Citizen
is currently working on building a platform to solve these
problems by paving the way for generating global, coherent
and sustainable solutions.
Students from all over the world and from many disciplines
play a pivotal role in our endeavour. Thus, we need to
maintain a minimum of 1.000 of the world’s most ambitious
and knowledgeable students as editors of our 2.000 topics.
By 2014 we expect to reach this ambitious goal, which paves
the way for establishing our unprecedented globalisation-
oriented platform that operates according to the following
guiding principles:
sharing knowledge, building networks,
generating solutions.
